The Voice of Outlander

Scottish singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Griogair Labhruidh, professionally known as simply Griogair, is a contemporary, experimental recording artist strongly rooted in tradition. Coming from a long line of Highland musicians, his music stems from a quest to express his insights and ideas about spirituality, nature, and creativity in a modern musical context, while paying homage to his Scottish heritage in his own personal way. Griogair is uniquely able to traverse largely untrodden ground combining Gaelic music with influences as eclectic as funk, soul, African music, hip hop and jazz.

An award-winning Gaelic singer, internationally recognized for his voice, Griogair has become well known as “The Voice of Outlander” and has worked with Emmy & BAFTA award-winning composer, Bear McCreary, featured on the 6th season main title and soundtrack of that global series sensation. He has shared the stage with the stalwarts of Celtic tradition and maintained a strong presence in the world music scene as a featured member of the multi-platinum group, Afro Celt Sound System.

In addition to carving out a career as an original, international recording artist, Griogair has embodied the role of tradition bearer and folklorist from a young age. Through an unwavering dedication to preserving the Gaelic dialects, stories and songs of his ancestors, he has positioned himself as a key ambassador for the culture.

In this concert, Griogair will share a selection of this material, offering an entertaining yet thought-provoking glimpse into his life as a preeminent exponent of traditional Gaelic singing and the inheritor of a family piping legacy spanning several generations. Prepare to be transported through the mists of time on an unforgettable journey into a world of daring cattle raids, epic clan battles, the mastery of the  bards and the mysteries of the Gaelic otherworld.

From the mountains of Glencoe and the shores of Skye to the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, an evening of musical excellence & storytelling awaits you in this spellbinding 90-minute concert by Griogair Labhruidh!
